Indigo is a free unbiased renderer for the major apps and now has a plugin for cinema 4d, i really don't know too much about it apart from the fact that is renders in a similar way to the maxwell renderer

Give it a try out and let us know what you think of it. I am not 100 % sure but i think the plugin only works with C4D 9.521 though the indigo program is itself a standalone application

I gave it a shot, but had a problem with it rendering my image, actually it wouldnt render it at all, it would always render some image that came with it. Probably missing a step or two somewhere, but it really hasn't impressed me yet, but it is free, so there's not to much complaining i can do

Well here is a better version. i stopped it after 7 hours however i took a long break and am not sure at what time it reached a reasonable level of convergence

Now i see a problem the sunlight is not coming in at the angle it would have if this was a C4D render with a sunlight infinite light and i don't yet know how to bring out the darker areas..how to do more bounces and tone mapping

This is raw Indigo..no post

have a look at the indigo initialization file, it is set to render the dof test file, when you export you c4d scene you create a file say c4dtest.xml

So now change the ini file to load this at startup

It seems that the plugin has 2 .cdl files, if you use C4D 9.1 then go with the defaults, if you use 9.521 then remove the original cdl file and rename the 9.521 one from cd_ to cdl

you will see these in your plugins folder

Thanks for the link. :)/>
The renders look fantastic on their site. I hope I can pull the same quality out of Indigo. The sense of realism is very strong, like Maxwell as you said.

impressive? I hope that was a joke. I personally think indigo sucks, especially if this took SEVEN hours to render... this is yet another reason why vray = win
