CPU is reporting IDLE temps at around 50c and Load temps anywhere between 99 - 227c !!
Is it possible that the cooler's base was covered with a transparent, protective layer that you didn't remove?
Precisely that... what a muppet i am! I decided to take the cpu out and use new compound then realised as soon as i lifted the heatsink off the chip.
