Yes they are very similiar and fumefx tuts will give a good grounding for t4d however the features and settings are somewhat different

I am trying like mad to get a version of this that works nicely. The tutorial is fine, I mean the plug in. I can get the latest version from their site, but this latest version puts a giant watermark across the whole render... not useful.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the beta version but an earlier version that works? For Mac?

All demo versions will give you a water mark, you can buy an early bird licence at a reduced price

Hmm... that is an annoying but I guess understandable choice on their part.

My issue is: there are other plugins that can work for smoke... and it's not possible to buy them all just to test them without a watermark. Hmm.

The watermark should not hinder your testing

Trying to follow along this tut on R12, however it's quite a bit different it seems. Following everything step by step and I can't even get the first preview to come up... =(
