ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon Business, has certified five vendors in detection and cleaning following its first round of testing security software designed for the just-released Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.

To achieve the ICSA Labs Anti-Virus Certification, products must meet all criteria for detection of malware in desktops and servers. Products must demonstrate they have the capability to detect, identify and prevent self-replicating malware while reporting no false positives. The products also must be able to log the results of virus-detection attempts.

The following products earned ICSA Labs Certification for detection:

• ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 on Windows 7 64-bit
  
• Microsoft Forefront Client Security on Windows 7 64-bit
  
• Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit
  
• Norman Security Suite on Windows 32-bit
  
• PC Tools Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus on Windows 7 32-bit
  
• Webroot AntiVirus with SpySweeper on Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit.
  
• Webroot Internet Security Essentials on Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit.
