Service Pack 4 for CINEMA 4D
Welcome to Service Pack 4 for finalRender Stage-2 CINEMA 4D. In our ongoing desire to serve the needs and expectations of our customers, cebas Computer will periodically release Service Packs to enhance features and stability for your production usage. It is strongly recommended that you always keep your software up to date with these Service Packs.
What's New in SP4?
This release of finalRender Stage-2 for CINEMA 4D primarily consists of many new maintenance and compatibility enhancements; however, there are also some new functions and features that were added as well. Find below a list of changes in SP4.
Enhanced Bump Mapping Support
Service Pack 4 introduces much better support for CINEMA 4D's native bump map rendering effects. Rendering results created with Service Pack 4 match much better than the result that can be achieved with the native Cinema renderer.
Enhanced Physical Sky Model
The Physical Sky rendering core has been enhanced a great deal and now creates an even more vibrant and natural look. In addition to the enhanced shading and rendering model, new features have been added as well. For example, any light source can be picked as a Sun for the physical sky and a new ground plane option has been added.
Enhanced Support for Native CINEMA Mapping Methods
With this service pack, the mapping types and options usually found in CINEMA 4D are all supported by finalRender and will create identical results when compared to CINEMA's native renderer.
Cinema 3D Noise Fully Supported
finalRender now fully supports the native 3D Noise Map.
Additional Cinema Effect Shader Support
The following Effect Shaders are now supported:

# Ambient Occlusion
# Normal Direction
# Projector
Enhanced AA-Filtering (Image Filtering) to Reduce Flickering
Service Pack 4 comes with an enhanced filter method for all image based filters available in finalRender. Problems found in Gauss and Catmull Rom have been fixed as well. When loading "old" scenes with Gauss filter enabled, the rendering can now appear much sharper than before.
New Gamma Correction Methods
Gamma controls have been added to the Generals rendering menu section. This ensures that the user can set up and do a full Linear Workflow right out of Cinema when the output format is set to *.HDR.
Material Override
It is now possible to use a global Material Override to temporarily override the materials in a scene with one single material. This is perfect for debugging purposes.
Object Properties
These new settings have been added to the finalRender Object Property Tag:
# Receive and Generate AO
# Deform /Transform Motioblur
Architectural Material
These new options have been added to the Architectural Material:
# Unlock Glossiness
# Highlight Glosssiness
Enhancements to the Light Material
When using the light material, the results are now much smoother with less samples and the light portal option renders much faster!
Added Global Multiplier in AMRS for Blurry
The amount of all blurry samples in a scene can now be controlled from within a centralized global setting.
General AQMC Enhancements
Work has been done to the AQMC GI-Engine to reduce the amount of artifacts on geometry with small gaps.
Added New GI Globals
The following settings have been added to the Global GI rendering menu:
# Maps Blur
# Maps Blur HDR
