Hi guys,
I decided to capture a quick "howto" on how to use the VrayMaya demo version with Bdancer's script "vray for blender", in case you wanna give it a ride. English/Spanish versions available.
Stuff required:
Exporter's official site:
http://blender.lugr.ru/
Latest version of the script:
http://blender.lugr....Export_0.9.2.py
Testscene used in the tutorial:
http://upload.blende...ellbox.blend.7z
Vray's official site (to create the account):
http://www.chaosgroup.com/
Direct links to the demo:
32 bits:
http://www.3dtechnics.org/support_vray/MAY..._maya85_x86.exe
64bits:
http://www.3dtechnics.org/support_vray/MAY..._maya85_x64.exe
Videos:
English version:6 min 29 secs, 14 mb, windows media video:
http://files.wildspa....lender_eng.wmv
Spanish version: 7 min 17 secs, 16mb, windows media video:
http://files.wildspa....lender_eng.wmv
Hope to create another VT soon explaining basic material creation, lighting options, etc, right now I'm driving Andrey crazy with my emails and questions, trying to learn as much as I can about Vray!
regards,
Alvaro

Caronte, from the blenderartists forums, just published a nice little app that helps out doing the "2007 trick". I'm quoting his words here:
cheers!

Hi,
While an updated VRay demo is out...
I programmed a little utility to change the date automatically while VRay is working.
http://files.wildspa...iles/toback.zip
Put "toback.exe" on the same folder where vray.exe exists and instead vray.exe, choose toback.exe in the exporter script. That's all!
Anybody can mirror this freeware proggie.

Thanks SFX!
I hope the info's useful for some at this forum.
Blender's Physics/fluid system is very powerful. It's very accurate and takes full advantage of your processing power (threads), so the more you got the faster it'll be. Once you bake the animation and it does its calculations you can play it in realtime with no problem. They say the physics simulation is one of blender's biggest pros. ;)/>
More info here (in the Physics and particles section):
http://www.blender.o...llery/features/
Also search youtube for blender fluid simulations.
A new book called "Bounce, tumble and splash: simulating the physical world with blender 3d" is about to come out as well:

Now some news! Andrey updated his plugin to version 0.93, grab it here:

Brilliant.. if a 100th of the members were like you we would have a resource site par excellence..keep up the good work
Does the blender fluids cache write directly to disk before meshing as reaflow does or does it store in ram ? most fluid particles setups are many GB in size

Thanks SFX! I'll try to post some more of the VTs I've captured for blender ;)/>
About fluids cache, it writes it frame by frame to a temp directory usually created next to your blender file. I can't remember its extension now, but I guess that when you want to play it back it reads the info from there.
Have a nice one! :D/>
