Seems to me that flash gives a universally acceptable medium, QT would be probably too big and i am not sure if mac users can see divX

DivX is fine for Macs. Gives good compression and good quality.
I did a quick test with the alhead movie, 356kb down to 144kb at highest setting.

problem i find with divx as opposed to flash and qt is that divx renders are darker
If you play then im wmp the first run is fine then the brightness drops down, of course you could also account for this in the render settings or add a filter when converting from the original to divx

with the right settings, flash gives a very good size/quality ration judging by 3dkiwi's tuts. the fps affects the filesize a lot (u really dont need more than 10 fps and can pretty much do with 5-7)

I have no idea what would cause the brightness fade problem other than the Gamma difference between PC and Mac.
I would have thought that it would at least remain constant or perhaps just have an issue when crossing platforms.
T3, I agree with what you say about Kiwi's tutorials. A good standard to aim for.
Maybe it would be an idea to set up the same short test file in a selection of formats and compare them on both platforms.
